Bonding Out of Jail in Georgia

The Bail Bonding Process in Atlanta Georgia

The process of finding someone to get you out of jail is scary, especially if you have never had to get a bail bond before. One of the most stressful things is going to jail. In this article, I’m going to explain the concept of bonding out of jail and let you know of a cool story in which I didn’t actually need to post bail. I just got out of jail free – which at the time was very peculiar – but the story has a happy ending.

Bail bonds provide a way for people who are accused of a crime to get out of jail and secure a lawyer to research their case and prepare a defense. It also allows the defendant a little bit more freedom. The severity of the alleged crime will often determine the amount of the bail set by the judge. However, most types of crimes have a set bail fee which can be obtained at the county jail.

Fulton County Bail Bonds / Atlanta GA

Here in Atlanta, one of the biggest areas is Fulton County. Granted, Dekalb and Cobb County are quite large as well, but more than likely, if you live in Atlanta Georgia, then you live in Fulton County. The only reason I bring this up is because you have to know what county you are in when you are securing an Atlanta bail bonds agency. Some of them are only licensed in one or two counties, and they may not be the ones that you are in!

Most of the time, it isn’t you that’s in jail who needs bail money. It’s going to be your friend or relative calling you to help get them out of jail. Therefore, you need to know which jail they are being held in and maybe their case number. This will help the bail bondsman identify the fees associated with their release. For more information on Fulton County bail bonds, be sure to check out the video that's on YouTube. There's a lot of great information there on how to obtain a seasoned bondsman who can help you out.

Ok, so there’s a few things that you should be aware of when getting a bondsman to go to work for you. First of all, you will have to pay a minimum of 10% of the total bail fee. I believe some bondsmen charge a little extra to expedite the process a bit. I’m not sure on that, but in Fulton County, I would be willing to pay a little extra. The Fulton County jail is smelly and scary for those who haven’t spent any time in the county jail before. Even for those who have, it’s best to get them out of there quickly. Trust me.

Another thing that you should be aware of is the fact that if after posting bail, your friend or relative doesn’t show up for court, they are now wanted by the courts AND the bonding company. The difference though is that the court will only put out a bench warrant where the bail bonds company will hire a bounty hunter to come after you and drag you to court if he/she has to.

There’s a reason for this. The Fulton County bail bonding company or any other county for that matter, is liable for making sure that you show up to court. This is why bail bond fees are set according to the severity of the crime allegedly committed. The higher the ‘flight risk,’ the higher the fee will be. Some crimes have fees in the hundred thousand.

Just don’t get arrested and you’ll never have to worry about any of these things. But on the off-chance that you do have an unfortunate run-in with the police or sheriff’s department, then do a little bit of research before hiring a bail bondsman in Atlanta. Again, they’ll most likely be coming out of Fulton County, but be sure before you give them money
